St. John's University Catechism Filmstrips
Back in the 1950's, St John's University in Brooklyn, NY created a
series of sound and color filmstrips which taught, in narrative style, the same basic material that Catholic
children learned in question-and-answer form from the Baltimore Catechism.
The collection took 10 years to produce at a cost of $300,000.
In 1957, Pope Pius XII reviewed the first filmstrips in the series and pronounced it a "wonderful" advance in
religious education.
These filmstrips are just as relevant today as they were then. View
them with your children or just watch them yourself. We can all use a refresher!
To view a filmstrip, just click on the title of the one you wish to
see.
